Our custom, Non-GMO Essential Nutrients blend is specially designed for chickens and other poultry. Grow these seeds in a planter, and let your birds enjoy the succulent greens. These sprouts will regrow after being trimmed down by your birds, and are proven to provide Omega-3s and other essential micronutrients (Vitamin A and E). Read more about the benefits of forage on our Blog

Each 1 pound bag of Essential Nutrients blend includes:

  • Flax (Linum usitatissimum)
  • Forage peas (Pisum sativum)
  • Alfalfa (Medicago sativa)
  • Ladino Clover (Trifolium repens)
  • Rape (Brassica napus)
  • Annual ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum)
  • Perennial ryegrass (Lolium Perenne L.)
  • Red Wheat (Triticum aestivum)

Application rate: 17-25 lbs/acre

Inoculant: Suggested

Plant height: <1-4'

Uses: Forage for chickens and poultry, cover crop to repair soil

Care: Keep well watered, allowing soil to dry slightly between waterings.

In soil: Prevent birds from consuming seedlings until several inches tall and well rooted. Plants may be covered with hardware cloth to prevent poultry related soil damage, while allowing tops to grow through for foraging.

In flats: Grow indoors during winter. Trim top half and feed to flock. Or offer birds the entire flat, and remove when half eaten. Allow to regrow before offering to flock again. Multiple flats can be used in rotation.
